WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
The Kiwanis Club of Appleton – Golden K is a group of mostly retired men and women who are young at heart and dedicated to giving back to our community through service and gifts. Our focus is primarily on youth, and our goal is to encourage and support children of all ages to achieve their full potential. We are key supporters of programs to help autistic youth in both academic and social environments. We provide six scholarships annually to graduating seniors from area high schools; we sponsor and provide guidance to affiliated service clubs at the high school and collegiate level, and we fund leadership training and experience for high school students.
We also serve our community through volunteer work with local and national organizations such as the Salvation Army and the Boys & Girls Club. Members also volunteer as tutors for reading and math at local elementary schools. At Christmas time, we ring bells, help with the Salvation Army’s gift and food distribution to needy area families, and play Santa Claus to area youngsters through the Park & Rec Department’s Santa Calling program.
