COMMITTEES

The heart and soul of any volunteer organization are the committees which plan, organize and conduct its various activities. The following are the key organizations of the Appleton – Golden K Club.

  • Community Service Committee, Glenn Mintern, Chair

    • Community service is the reason we exist. This committee identifies, organizes and carries out service activities throughout our community. This includes partnering with organizations such as the Salvation Army and the Boys & Girls Club.

  • Fundraising Committee, Don Smith, Chair

    • This committee identifies, organizes and carries out fundraising opportunities to support our scholarship programs, funding for the service leadership programs we sponsor at Appleton West High School (Key Club) and Lawrence University (Circle K), funding for local autism programs and projects and donations to numerous other youth-focused charities.

  • House Committee, Open

    • The House committee is responsible for coordinating arrangements for both on-site and off-site meetings, room set-up, scheduling of greeters and maintenance of club regalia.

  • Membership Committee, Jack VerBockel, Chair

    • The Membership committee is responsible for membership growth and retention.

  • Human & Spiritual Values, Len Risse, Chair

    • Responsibilities include scheduling invocators for each meeting and hosting an annual clergy appreciation breakfast.

  • Program Committee, Ike Spangenberg, Chair

    • The Program committee schedules speakers for regular club meetings and plans tours of area attractions and other special events.

  • Social Committee, Mary Rydell, Chair

    • The Social committee plans and arranges for various social functions including the Christmas party and the Installation (of new officers) dinner.

  • Youth & Club Committee, Dave Farina, Chair

    • This committee reviews and determines funding for area youth-oriented organizations and programs. In addition, this committee oversees the Service Leadership Program coordinators.

  • Scholarship Committee, Carol Fischer, Chair

    • This committee reviews scholarship applications from each the five area high schools, interviews the candidates and makes the final selections. It also oversees the selection process for an additional scholarship given to a Key Club senior.

  • Interclub Committee, Don Marcille, Chair

    • This committee plans visits to other Kiwanis clubs within our division and, with the Social committee, hosts an annual trivia contest with local clubs.

  • Financial Committee, Fred Mataczynski, Chair

    • Responsibilities include preparation of annual budgets and scheduling an annual review of financial statements.
